THE OVERFLOW

The glass is empty

And full

Nothing

Clear and bone dry

Runs out over the top

Falling through space

Landing and disappearing

In the green grass

And dark earth

Of another day

Perennials come and go with the words

Beauty abounds and lies all around

We retreat

To the long shadows

Beneath the white clouds and green trees

A gentle laughter

Holds me by the shoulders

Wind fills my ears

Hair blows in my face

The presence - pulled deep into my lungs

As I close my eyes

I am overcome
