THE ICE

The silence builds

Until it breaks into song

The emptiness fills

Until it spills

But nothing is lost

Nothing is ever forgotten

Or left behind

It is part of us now

I lay my head down in the glade

Deep in the valley

Very, very far away

There is peace

Way out on the ice today

He could hardly walk

“You taking pictures?”

He wanted to talk

The fire was nice on the ice

He told me about his 22” salmon

He knew about light

I drifted away on the grey and white

Clouds going by overhead

Thinking of things

Loving the twilight

One with everything

In love with the coming night
