LIFE’S BLOOD

I wonder

Does the salmon feel pain?

While exhausting the fleeing fleeting energy left in his dissipating life

Mustering final reserves to struggle…flip… two final times

Gently shaking the bear’s head

One final time

As life love’s blood

Saturates both their senses

Every cell of both their beings reel in ecstasy

Both intoxicated by the deep dark red primal love

Spilling over their taste buds

Spilling into the white rushing wild water

For only a moment

For the briefest flash of light

In time

The crescendo builds

Reaching a climax

Then abruptly ends

The orchestra freezes

Realizing

The two dancers

The two blood soaked lovers

Have left the stage

Forever
